Hillcrest Elementary School participated in the Pennies for Patients Program to support the Tennessee Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Funds donated by students at Hillcrest Elementary support the mission of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, including research to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma.  The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society also uses Hillcrest's donations to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Hillcrest Elementary raised $1,500 for Pennies for Patients during a three-week fundraising drive.  Heather Lowe's class was recognized as the top fundraiser collecting $397.77, followed by Kristen Brockman's class with a total of $264.39.  Edie Buchanan's class placed third with a total of $99.97.
